The UM110 unit performs to a very high degree of accuracy on a stable beam. Many high power lasers have a fluctuating mode structure, and hence there will be variation in measurements.

Data is stored in the unit in one of 3 ways :

1. A profile, showing a traditional mode structure of the beam.
2. A data file of position and diameter.
3. A sequence of profiles which allow for later analysis of the laser, and the generation of profile "videos".
